THE MAGNITUDE OF THE NEED
A Life-or-Death Crisis
South Sudan has the worst maternal and infant mortality rates in the world. • Over 1,100 mothers die for every 100,000 births. In rural areas, most women give birth without trained assistance • Fewer than 1in5 births are attended by skilled professionals • Long distances, poor roads, and poverty delay emergency care For many women, childbirth is not a moment of joy—it is a moment of risk.
What We are Building
A Safe Place to Give Birth
The Malual Community Maternal Health Clinic will provide:
- Antenatal care and pregnancy screening
- Skilled, supervised deliveries
- Emergency stabilization and referrals
- Postnatal and newborn care
- Family planning and health education
Serving families within a 20-25 mile radius, the clinic will support 2,0003,000 safe births each year.
